Welcome To Elmwood Tennis Club

Elmwood Tennis Club Welcomes You

Elmwood Tennis Club provides first class tennis facilities, coaching and community based programmes in Christchurch's northwest suburbs. The courts are situated on Heaton Street, between Strowan and Papanui Roads.

The club looks out over Elmwood Park - a classic Oak-lined English Village Green, used for club cricket in the summer months and soccer in the winter. To the north-east, the club car park borders with Heaton Intermediate and neighbouring St Andrews private school.

Elmwood tennis club has nine courts available - six "tiger turf" synthetic grass courts to the north of the clubhouse and three "Rebound Ace" cushioned hardcourts at the rear. The front 6 courts were all re-surfaced in February 2015, with the back three hardcourts resurfaced in late 2016.

Upstairs our Pavilion has a large viewing deck with frameless glass railings to watch the afternoons play, whilst inside we have a fully licenced bar with a large variety of refreshments on sale for our members and their guests.

Elmwood has a vibrant membership and welcomes any new enquiries, please phone the club on 355 8377 if you wish to discuss further.

Premier ladies win final against Waimari

Our Premier ladies won a hard fought final against their arch rivals Waimari last Saturday 4 matches to 2. Standout performances by all the girls with a number of matches going down to the wire. It was the culmination of a number of years hard work, with a few near misses along the way that resulted in the ladies being crowned Premiers for the 2017/18 season. Great effort ladies and more on this victory in our newsletter later in the month.

Premier Mens semi-final v Te Kura Hagley

This Saturday at Elmwood Tennis starting at 2.30pm, our Premier mens team will compete for the right to play in the the Premier mens final on Saturday the 24th March. This will be a closely fought semi with our opposition talking up their chances and our team quietly using this as motivation to just let their racquets do the talking. It will be an enthralling affair and one not to be missed, so have a few rounds then we'll open the bar early so you can pull up a seat to cheer our boys onto victory.

Ladies Open Club Champs final

The final of the Open ladies Club Champs will be played this Saturday at 1.00pm between our Premier ladies Emily Martin and Abby Mason. Another great opportunity to see some wonderful tennis, so if you are able make your way to the club by 1.00pm please do so to witness what promises to be a great match.

Divisional Grade semis and finals

Good luck to our Mens Div 6 and Div 9 teams for their respective finals this Sunday and also to our Div 1 ladies team who will contest a semi final to be held this Sunday also. I might be going out on a limb but I'm quietly confident we will win all 3 of these ties. Good luck to all players.

Junior Interclub finals

We have at least 12 teams competing in finals this weekend. This is a wonderful effort and a testament to the coaching staff and parents who have all played an enormous part in helping these young champions throughout the season. Good luck to all and congratulations on what has been an oustanding season for you.

As mentioned previously, because of all the interclub finals and the junior club champs that will be held on Sunday afternoon, courts will be unavailable until 5.30pm on Sunday and from 4.30pm on Saturday.
